Summer is coming, and public BBQs across Victoria will soon be in high demand. But are they safe and compliant?
Adapt Essential Services has launched a dedicated BBQ Maintenance and Compliance Audit Program to help councils prepare for the busy season.
We have over 10 years of experience maintaining and auditing public BBQs across Victoria. In recent audits, over 95% of BBQs failed at least one compliance check. Most faults involved missing RCD protection, faulty isolators, or poor cleanliness standards.
Our program combines electrical safety checks, cleanliness verification, and detailed reporting. Councils receive clear data on risks, contractor performance, and cost-saving opportunities.
Each audit includes:
• On-site safety and functionality checks
• Cleanliness and hygiene inspection
• Photo-based compliance reporting
• Integration with the Adapt Dashboard for ongoing visibility
Our audits are managed and tracked through the Adapt Dashboard, the same platform used across our Emergency Lighting programs.
We recently partnered with the City of Casey. The audit data improved community safety and gave the council a new way to measure contractor performance. It also helped them reduce risk and identify cost savings.
Councils can now run a pilot BBQ audit across a few sites before summer. This small program quickly highlights safety risks and readiness levels.
